Student films - required

Maya Voukov showed us her student film from film school. Research one other student film on YouTube (a simply search like ' college student film ' gets great results) and give a brief review in which you discuss the plot, some interesting film techniques you noticed (lighting, interesting camera work, etc.), and whether or not you engaged/enjoyed it. Must be a student film from the last 7 years Do not select high school films -- it should be a serious submission from a college student Maya attends York University -- feel free to search for York student films Make sure to post a link to the film you viewed.

Fan conventions

Read this article on FAN CONVENTIONS from The Hollywood Reporter. What is your opinion on fan conventions? Are they necessary? Do they benefit the fans? The culture? The intellectual properties(movies, TV shows, etc)? What is the alternative? Cite at least one interesting fact you learned from the article within your blog response.

Trailers - (multiple blogs)

You may answer two of these questions, but do so in two separate blog posts: 1. What makes a good film trailer? Identify one trailer which you feel is excellent (as far as the art of film trailers go) and explain what makes it so good. Feel free to do a bit of research into what makes a good trailer. Note: Make sure to select a good trailer, and not just the trailer which happens to be for a movie you love. 2. What makes a trailer bad? What are some famously bad trailers (or identify one you thought was bad)? What is is about them which made them so poorly received (too many spoilers perhaps?)? Note: Make sure to select bad trailers for a purpose. Do not simply select the trailer for a movie you dislike and claim it bad. Bad movies have good trailers all the time. 3. After viewing The Problem with Trailers , how do you feel about the 'modern trailer' and its predictability?...
